People ask “why a yarn shop?” and I admit, it is hard to explain… so, I usually give some examples of shops and places I have been that just became “my happy place.” Whether it be a wonderful quilt shop, interior design store, garden, or even a wood shop. There are places we go where colors, textures, architecture and people give us inspiration. A place of like minds where you don’t have to explain…That is what my Mom, my friend DeeAnn, and I have set out to do… Create a place where people can learn, create, become inspired and just be.
It really started when I walked through the building. The natural light was just wonderful and the architecture…well, you will have to see that for yourself. But I got the idea in my head and I just didn’t let it go. (That is just one of my problems by the way.) Things started to happen… I had already been a yarn researcher and blog reader for sometime. Well, mostly since the yarn shops closed here in Frederick. I knew how find fabulous yarn! And Mom, well, I can’t explain it but she is one smart crazy lady! You will see. Next, DeeAnn sent my mom and I a text with this fabulous yarn lady head picture. It was dead on. Different, and that is want we are. Then weeks of coming up with a name… (what I could do if I could get those hours back.) I won’t bore you with the other things that weren’t so fun. But suffice it to say, one thing after another just came together and the next thing I knew, Mom showed up driving a Penske truck with her Red Mini behind all the way from Alabama and now I have help with the laundry!
There is more to share and learn about us and our new adventure, but that will take a little time. For now, the count down begins. 22 days till the doors of The Knot House OPENs, and there just isn’t enough hours in the day.
