No theme this time…just lots to fill you in on.
First and foremost Happy New Year! Mom, DeeAnn and I can not thank everyone enough for all of the support you gave us in 2013. The Knot House has been open for 6 months! I can’t believe it. We could not have done it with out everyone’s enthusiasm and we are very grateful. Thank you! We are working to stay on top of new yarns, classes, and inspiration in 2014. If you have an idea, please share it with us.
I hope everyone has survived the bitter cold as of late. I thought of three good things that come from this kinda cold. One, it will really make us appreciate the first little hint of Spring when it comes. Two, it supports our knitting cause (as if we need a cause). And three, as Luc and I were discussing, we should have fewer bugs this summer!
On with 2014!
So what do we have planned for the upcoming weeks? This Saturday, the 11th, we are having a Trunk Show featuring a new hand dyer from Virginia, Sandra Miracle, of Duck Duck Wool! When we first met Sandra and saw her yarns in September we got her on the calendar right away. She is simply delightful and you will love her yarns and colorways! Here is a sampling… We hope you get to stop in.
Classes in January and February
If you haven’t heard, we have new sock classes in January and February. We have Basic Top Down class(which is pretty full) and a Fancy Toe Up Class. Mom has been obsessed (not an over exaggeration) with knitting socks since Christmas Eve. I think it started when we received a new shipment of Dragonfly Djinni and Sweet Georgia and she couldn’t decide what color to do so she said she was going to make 5 pair! She finished her first pair in one week. She started out pleased with them, until Sock Girl told her you are not supposed to see light thru them… So she started another pair on smaller needles, and they are taking her a little longer. 🙂
Mom is also teaching the Flax Sweater Class. This is a great first sweater for those that want to move beyond scarves, hats and cowls. The instructions are excellent, and mom has it down…she has done 2 already.
We also added a beginning/First Hat Class and a class on the Smocking Technique. Check them out if you are interested. Yikes, I think I am teaching both of these!
Ann Weaver is teaching her Station North Mitts Class on Feb 8th, and we are just over the moon about it! If you are fan you won’t want to miss this. Sign-ups are open now and sure to fill quickly.
New Yarns
There are some surprises coming in February which I am sworn to secrecy. But I can tell you that we have been selected as a Flagship Store by Neighborhood Fiber Co., and we will be launching Karida’s yarns on February 8th! We are quite excited and honored to be selected. We will be celebrating on Feb 8th! More to come…
House Keeping Items
We have uploaded most of our shop samples to The Knot House Ravelry Project Page. I promise to keep this updated and current. So if you are out of town and haven’t made it in lately, you might want to see what we have completed.
Also, we have changed our hours on Wednesdays and Fridays. We will be closing at 5pm instead of 7pm.
We are working on bringing in more designers and events as I type this…so stay tuned.
Hope to see you at the DDW Trunk Show this Saturday…but if not then, soon.
Off to knit!
