Wow…what an amazing few weeks it has been. With our first Metro Yarn Crawl behind us and Maryland Sheep and Wool around the corner things are a bit of a blur. We are currently planning a few things for Sheep and Wool weekend. But they are not solid yet, so I will have to report on them later.
A big THANK YOU to all of the Yarn Crawlers that came to The Knot House during the MYC. We had many first timers and we realize it was a hike for some to come to Frederick. The Knot House prize winner is Genni King from Henrico, VA. Congratulations Genni!
One of the things we were most excited about was the fact we were mentioned on the Yarniacs podcast. We wanted a sample of Joji’s Imagine When worked up in DDW 80/20 Merino/Silk. So I found one on the DDW Ravelry page worked up by GayleyWayley. I had no idea who she was and asked Sandra if she would contact her to see if we could borrow it. Gayle sent it right away. The next thing we know, the first day of the MYC customers came in asking to see it and told us Gayle mentioned us on the podcast! I had no idea. I admit I hadn’t listened to a yarn related podcast. I knew they were out there…but I can’t do everything. Needless to say, I listened to the podcast and a half a dozen prior. The Yarniacs do a great job with lots of good info on new patterns/trends and new yarns. If you have time you might want to check it out. Funny how things happen and what a small world it is. I am sending Gayle package of goodies to thank her.
If you haven’t been in the shop in the past week or so, we have some new samples. I actually finished two projects! The Gather Cowl by Tincan Knits worked in DDW 50/50 Merino/Silk and L1 by Antonia Shankland worked in Classic Elite’s Firefly (linen).
Finishing these left 3 on the needles so Mom gave me permission to start something new. I choose Purl Bee’s Lattice Top Sweater. I am doing it in Breathless & Rustic Fingering in a combo of blues. I didn’t convert it to the round…dang it! But it is coming along…
We also have 2 new sweater samples in the shop. One of our customers, Laura Silberman knitted both of these. The first is Water’s Edge by Hannah Fetting worked in DDW 50/50 and the second is Rocky Coast, also by Hannah Fetting worked in Dragonfly Fibers Damsel. They are both very different and beautiful. Thank you Laura!
New yarns coming next week! More on them in next week’s update along with Sheep and Wool weekend details.
Happy Knotting!
Heather
I was a metro yarn crawler. Loved your shop and friendliness. I will definitely make the effort to return even though I live in Virginia. You had a wonderful selection of beautiful yarn that you can’t find elsewhere. I appreciate that you try to bring in indie yarns from all over.
