Do it Right. I was on the fence about admitting I made my YOs wrong, but then I thought, I live by full disclosure, so why not. I never claimed to be a fabulous knitter…just a Shelf Tyrant.
I was almost done with the back of my Cap Sleeve Lattice Top, by Purl Soho this past weekend. We all knew it didn’t look quite right…my eyelets were slanted…but we just blamed it on the yarn. LOL. I was juggling things in the kitchen Sunday and asked Mom to carry on with my pattern after binding off for the neck. She just did it and didn’t say a word. After dinner I sat down picked it up and started knitting. Then I stopped and got the ipad out and YoutTubed YOs. Mom asked what I was doing and I told her…”you do your YOs different than I do.” So come to find out, I was doing them wrong. Next thing you know, I was pulling my needles out and said… “if it is worth doing, it is worth doing it right.” Mom just shook her head at me. She hates to rip out. Two steps forward and one step back, but I am free knowing that the pattern is right. Clean conscious!
I’m off to Paris. Compliments of Mother Motorola (my real job). I will be gone for 9 days. Two full weekends out of the shop with no internet. I don’t know if I can stand it. Mom and DeeAnn are just laughing at me and can’t wait for me to leave. DeeAnn has been working on her Worsted Boxy and is reveling in getting a head start on me. She is working hers in two colors of Baah! and I want to do mine in Neighborhood Fiber Worsted and won’t get the yarn till the first week of June! I needed to slow her down…so I gave her a shop sample assignment which happens to be this weeks Free Pattern. She has been eyeing the ITO so I asked her to work up Espace Tricot’s Shadow and Light in ITO silk and linen. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I’m sure she will have it done by the time I get back. 🙂 Here is Espace Tricot’s version.
If you haven’t heard, Mom’s new favorite yarn is Shalimar’s Paulie Worsted. When we received Kristi’s box full she sent before Sheep & Wool, I went on and on about one of the colors….Midnight in Mendoza. Next thing I know Mom is working up Alicia Plummer’s Birchbark for ME.. she measured me today and says it will be done by the time I get back. No guilt or anything.
Thanks to Michael, Carol, and Doll Clothes Renee for helping me pick my Claudia Handpaint colors for my For Travel I plan to knit on the plane (if I’m not asleep). Since I now know how to do eyelets correctly. 🙂
Also want to thank everyone that stopped in over Sheep & Wool weekend. I know some came in early Sat. to visit Mom. This made us think there might be an interest in a Early Sat Morning Knit Group. If you are interested, say 8 to 11AM… let Mom know.
Au Revoir !
