I admit it all came together in a bit of a whirlwind. Mom and I had been thinking and talking about what to do for the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. We had some ideas. Then I get a call from Mom saying Gwen Handler, the Festival Chairman, had called her about something unrelated. Mom took the opportunity to ask her if she would support The Knot House having a Pop_Up Shop featuring Indie Artist that are not exhibiting at the festival. Gwen thought it was a great idea and only had one requirement….we had to get her the ad by the end of the week…
It was one of those times that you just start acting and not thinking. Kinda like you do in an emergency situation. I spent the afternoon emailing some of our favorite Indie Artist…some that have always supported us, and some that I just took a chance on. I remembered seeing an O-Wool instagram stating something about not getting in MSWF. And there was this new company called YOTH, I thought what the heck. Before I knew it, we had 7 artists on board and committed. By the end of the day, I thought holly shit…we gotta make this happen…I can’t let these fellow small business owners down. And to make it even better, some of the artists, like, Sandra (duck duck wool), Dami (Magpie Fibers), Joclyn (O-wool) and Veronica (YOTH) will be in The House at various times over the weekend. As one of my favorite sayings go “even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile.”
The details kept shifting a little here and there. Ms. Vicki of That Clever Clementine asked if we thought about having a Pre-View Friday night. So we are from 5pm to 9pm. Saturday we are opening at 8AM and Sunday at 10AM! We are taking over some additional space in our building and will have coffee, tea, and a few goodies.
Here is the line up! I keep trying to figure out how I am going to arrange everything…who is going to go where. I have some ideas. This is happening!
More to come~
