I have been working on a new sample for the shop. Crofton a new Kelbourne Woolens pattern using the new The Fibre Co. Cumbria. I couldn’t get the first round of the chart pattern to work out. I was almost convinced that I had lost my knitting skills. I couldn’t blame it on the wine because I haven’t been drinking during the week. I thought maybe I was just knitting when I was too tired (usually after 9pm). But then last night when Mom and I were at dinner I attempted the round again and it still didn’t work out. So I counted the number of stitches in the chart and Hot Damn it was the pattern and not me! Of course Mom had to verify, but she came to the same conclusion… 🙂 I emailed Kate and Courtney this morning, but then I got to thinking I got the pattern before it was released..
Anyway, I can’t say enough about this new Cumbria. It’s a non-superwash with a just enough lanolin. I love the feel and it is a nice contrast to some of the softer yarns we have in the shop. Taken straight from Kelbourne Woolens website…
• 90% wool, 10% mohair
• 238 yds/100 gram skein
• 18-20 sts = 4 inches on US 6-8 needle
Inspired by England’s stunning northwest region with its deep blue lakes and sheep-grazed fells and valleys, Cumbria is a lustrous blend of brown wool from rare breed sheep, fine S. American merino wool, and mohair. The resulting light brown-grey shade is then over dyed creating lovely deep saturated colors. Cumbria is a staple yarn, perfect for garments and accessories alike.
I found a Free Pattern that you could use for Cumbria too.

I also wanted to post a Free Pattern for the new Pepperberry Knits we recently added to the shop. I think these gloves are a perfect and only take 1 skein.
