I can’t believe it has just been over 2 1/2 years ago that Dami started dying yarn in her basement. I will not forget the day Mom, Dami, and I were in the shop classroom looking at her latest batch. She had it down pat. The tough critics, Dami included, were out of suggestions and input for improvement. I said, can you be ready for a Trunk Show the first weekend in December? I hadn’t really planned on suggesting it, it just came out. The look on her face was priceless. Just like that, a commitment was made. That Trunk Show/Magpie Launch was a huge success on many levels. Over the past two years Dami has been on the road making a name for Magpie Fibers. She has designers from everywhere working in her yarn. Thea Colman, Casapinka, Laura Aylor, MediaPeruana, Lynn Di Cristina, Veronika Jobe, and Andrea Rangel are top of mind. Heck, Dami designs too!! Needless to say, she has made quite a name for herself, and we are both proud and honored to have her celebrate with us.
Do you know how cool it is to tell people, “this is Magpie Fibers, she is a local dyer right here in Frederick that lives 2 miles away, yes she is quite talented isn’t she?” I don’t ever get tired of saying that…
Today I asked her what kits she is bringing. I can’t post them all, too many to mention. Here are a few:
Kilim Me Softly designed by Dami herself.
Seven Seas of Rhye by Dami
Magic Carpet Ride by Dami
Rob Roy by Thea Colman – (I think)
Now if you have been to Dami’s Trunk Shows before, you know Dami believes in prizes…
Here is a sneak peak of the big one worth $1000 – enter to win with every $50 spent on Magpie
Other Prizes:
- The first 25 people get to pick a free skein of yarn from the Goodie Bag.
- 4 Gift Baskets worth over $200 each – enter to win with every $50 spent on Magpie.
Oh and don’t forget the gradients…
Congratulations Dami!

P.S. Don’t forget to bing in your can goods. Luc is trying to both help the Frederick Action Agency, and complete his leadership assignment.
